Airwaves from 1979 was the first Badfinger album to be released without Pete Ham, who tragically committed suicide in 1975. Of course he is sadly missed on this album, which only features two earlier members ; Tom Evans and Joey Molland. After Pete's death the group has disbanded and both Tom and Joey had been in other bands.
After a short introductory song behind acoustic guitar and vocals, “Look Out California” suddenly kicks in with an electric guitar assault and the immediately recognizable voice of Tom Evans. Unmistakeable Badfinger! That is followed by another Evans-penned tune, with Nicky providing piano, “Lost Inside Your Love”.

1 de sept. de 2021 · I am surprised by the quality and performance of the songs, given thus their last release of a disintegrating band. I buy CDs by the tens and rarely dies one so quickly receive repeated plays. That's what I remember of Badfinger and they pull it off again. Its no Straight Up, but its close in appeal to Airwaves or Ass in terms of song quality.

De groep had hits met Come and get it , No matter what en Day after day , maar is vooral bekend van zijn tragische geschiedenis die wordt gekenmerkt door slechte promotie, oneerlijk management en de zelfmoord van twee leden.
