15 de jun. de 2020 · Gentle Giant is the band’s self-titled debut, appearing in 1970 with, as was normal at the time, a running time of around thirty-six minutes, containing seven tracks which fitted the vinyl format. This album is a more straight forward release than the more intricate albums that follow, that said it does show the way they were going to develop.

Acquiring the Taste is the second studio album by British progressive rock band Gentle Giant, released in 1971 on the Vertigo label. It was the final album by the band to feature original drummer Martin Smith.

30 de oct. de 2010 · The first thing that I noticed about "Acquiring the Taste" is the heavy use of synthesizers (including moog and mellotron), which is much more abundant than that on "Octopus" for example. In fact, the first track on the CD ("Pantagruel's Nativity") opens with a very soft, multi-part moog synthesizer line, with really nice mellotron parts laced throughout the rest of the piece.
