A.P. Carter registered "Wildwood Flower" as his own after The Carter Family's 1928 recording (copyrighted October 20, 1935), but lyrics are almost identical to "I'll Twine 'Mid the Ringlets". He did convert it from a parlor song to a folk rendition and though Carter arguably doesn't warrant it, assigning adaptation status to Carter so there is a separate grouping for "Wildwood Flower".

Carter’s daughter, Janette Carter, founded the Carter Family Memorial Center in 1979 to celebrate the illustrious lives of the original Carter Family and keep the tradition of bluegrass and folk music alive. The Carter Family Fold is now directed by Janette’s daughter, Rita Forrester.

A.P. also had a job as a traveling salesman, and in 1932 he and his wife separated because of an affair she had with his cousin while he was away from home so often with his salesman job and pursuing new music ideas.
