Největší protesty se konaly v Praze (začaly již 20.8. 1969, kdy zemřeli 3 demonstranti a 2 příslušníci lidových milicí zasažení vlastní střelbou), v Brně a v Liberci. Odpor byl brutálně potlačen pořádkovými jednotkami armády, Bezpečnosti a Lidových milicí. V Brně byli zastřeleni dva lidé. [4]
