They can only be found in the underbelly (sewers) of Dalaran. They can mostly be found on the ground or underwater, although they have been known to spawn inside the inn and arena master's hut. The spawn points are basically all over the underbelly (with the exception of the Black Market area).

If you fly up to street level, or drink the elixir above ground, you get a dismount warning and parachute down. If you fly out the tunnel to Crystalsong, you do not get a parachute... sometimes, curiosity does indeed kill you.
