Egham ( / ˈɛɡəm / EG-əm) is a town in the Borough of Runnymede in Surrey, England, approximately 19 miles (31 km) west of central London. First settled in the Bronze Age, the town was under the control of Chertsey Abbey for much of the Middle Ages.

Egham is situated in the north east of Surrey and is on the doorstep of the historic site where the Magna Carta was sealed in 1215. Ecga’s Ham was granted to the Abbot of Chertsey and remained controlled by the Abbey until its dissolution in 1537 when it became Crown property.
