Jack Arnold (1912-1992) was a prolific and influential director of 1950s science-fiction features, such as Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Incredible Shrinking Man, and It Came from Outer Space. He also worked in TV, comedy, and drama, and was nominated for an Oscar for his short film With These Hands.
