The West London School of Art founded in either 1861 or 1862 as the Marylebone and West London School of Art, was an educational establishment in London, England. The school worked with the Science and Art Department in South Kensington and offered lessons including architectural and life drawing.

25 de ago. de 2020 · By now, the College was the largest Art School and the best equipped Technical College in the country. A group of heads from German art schools had been over to visit the photographic centre, considered to be the best in Europe.
1881. Brook Green School of Art was founded in 1881 at Brook Green by Francis Hawke, with the establishment of a few evening classes to prepare students for science and art certificates. It was later renamed to Hammrsmith College of Art and Building.
A new Chelsea School of Art, directly managed by the London County Council, was formed in 1964 when the original art school split from Chelsea College of Science and Technology and amalgamated with the Polytechnic School of Art, Great Titchfield Street (previously the West London School of Art and part of the Regent Street Polytechnic).
He studied at the West London School of Art, and began his career as an art journalist, drawing many different subjects. However, it was for his pictures of cats that he eventually became famous. From the 1880s until the outbreak of the first world war, the ‘Louis Wain cat’ was hugely popular.
