UNIT OF INQUIRY FOR FIRST GRADE Understanding the IB-PYP The International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP) is underpinned by six transdisciplinary themes around which learning is planned. These are: Who we are Where we are in place and time How we express ourselves How the world works How we organize ourselves
This unit is going to be an exciting one as students will enquire about how voluntary organisations help the world around us and why they are important. The students will be begin to learn about why we need NGOs and how systems inside these organisations are important for them to function.
The Program of Inquiry (POI) serves as a framework for our curriculum and illustrates the major concepts that students will be exploring. It is made up of six units per grade level that help students gain an understanding of themselves and the world around them.
An inquiry into the interconnectedness of human-made systems and communities; the structure and function of organizations; societal decision-making; economic activities and their impact on humankind and the environment.

15 de nov. de 2022 · Grade 6 students demonstrated this in another ‘How we organise ourselves’ UOI. In the STEAM makerspace, they examined different ways to produce sustainable masks, water bottles, and other products, while putting scientific and engineering concepts to work.
How we express ourselves. An inquiry into: How we organize ourselves. An inquiry into the nature of the self; beliefs and values; personal, physical, mental, social and spiritual health; human relationships including families, friends, communities and cultures; rights and responsibilities; what it means to be human.
