5 de feb. de 2015 · Estas ideas traídas de California, ayudaron a formar el proyecto “ Nest we Grow”, que evolucionó de ser un interés compartido en los materiales que componen nuestro entorno construido, a un enfoque en los materiales renovables.
Pabellón Nest We Grow. Este singular pabellón dedicado a la gastronomía es fruto de un concurso en el que el arquitecto participó junto a un equipo de estudiantes. Su principal argumento es el uso de materiales sostenibles y de fácil manejo, de ahí que se haya construido con madera.
Hoy os dejamos con una de las obras más fascinantes que se pudieron ver en el Wood Design Award de 2016, se trata del proyecto “Nest We Grow” de Kengo Kuma en Hokkaido, en asociación con el Colegio de Diseño Ambiental UC Berkeley.
Nest We Grow | College of Environmental Design UC Berkeley + Kengo Kuma & Associates. In response to an international design-build competition, our team proposed a quintessentially Californian approach embracing many ideas still new to Asia, from where most of us hail.
Local foods make up the elevation of the Nest as people see the food forest floating above the landform. The program of the Nest is decided according to the life cycle of these local foods: growing, harvesting, storing, cooking/dining and composting, which restarts the cycle.
A tea platform in the middle of the nest creates a gathering space where the community can visually and physically enjoy food around a sunken fireplace. Local foods make up the elevation of the Nest as people see the food forest floating above the landform.
