In 2003, Mudvayne participated in the Summer Sanitarium Tour, headlined by Metallica, and in September, Chad Gray appeared on V Shape Mind's debut studio album Cul-De-Sac. In January 2004, the band began work on its third album, produced by Dave Fortman.

Mudvayne discography. The Mudvayne discography consists of five studio albums, one live album, one compilation album, three EPs, thirteen singles, two video albums, and seventeen music videos. Mudvayne is an American heavy metal band formed in Peoria, Illinois.
By May 27, 2004, the band had finished writing 12 songs for the album. Chad, Ryan, Greg and Matthew left the ranch in Santa Cruz and went back to their respective homes in California, Illinois and Wisconsin. On June 12, 2004, the band reconvened to commence recording the album.
