An 80-foot-high skylit atrium extends from the sixth level to the top of the Lunder Building to give patient rooms a sense of light and view. Silk plants were installed for ease of maintenance and concerns about infection.
The hospital decided to build a new addition to its extremely compact campus in downtown Boston to provide a high-tech, patient-centered healing environment that could meet their current needs and grow with the needs of the community for the next 100 years.

22 de ago. de 2012 · The Lunder Building is a high-tech, flexible structure that commemorates the bicentennial of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and advances it into a third century of providing healthcare.
The light gray brick structure with its affinities to 1930s International Style functions as the institution's main building. Its convex principal facade is characterized by shafts of windows between narrow vertical piers, providing natural light on the interior and lending an uplifting character to the whole.
This 420,000 sf outpatient medical facility is incorporated into the Massachusetts General Hospital campus in Boston. Features include a daylit public circulation spine and structurally expressive canopies at ground floor entrances.
