Sadako (Japanese: 貞子) aka Sadako KOL (Japanese: 貞子：咒殺 KOL) is a 2019 Japanese supernatural horror film directed by Hideo Nakata. Loosely based on the novel Tide by Koji Suzuki, the film is an installment in the Ring franchise, and a sequel to Nakata's 1999 film Ring 2.
Sadako's fictional history alternates between continuities, but all depict her as the vengeful ghost of a psychic who was murdered and thrown into a well. As a ghost, she uses nensha, her most distinctive power and weapon, to create a cursed video tape.
Sadako Yamamura (Yamamura Sadako 山村貞子) was the antagonist of the Ring Novels, television drama, and film series in Japan. Her character has been adapted into American and Korean counterparts for their respective localizations of Hideo Nakata's 1998 film, The Ring and The Ring Virus.
