Methods, post-method, and métodos. This is the first of two articles by Scott Thornbury for TeachingEnglish. 'A language teaching method is a single set of procedures which teachers are to follow in the classroom. Methods are usually based on a set of beliefs about the nature of language and learning.' (Nunan, 2003, p. 5).
29 de abr. de 2021 · Postmethod pedagogy consists of three essential pedagogic parameters: Particularity is the most important aspect of postmethod pedagogy because the teachers need to develop sensitivity to a particular group, their needs, problems, and also find solutions for those problems.
First and foremost, any postmethod pedagogy has to be a pedagogy of particularity. That is to say, language pedagogy, to be relevant, must be sensitive to a particular group of teachers teaching a particular group of learners pursuing a particular set of goals within a particular institutional context embedded in a particular sociocultural milieu.
Postmethod pedagogy is first put forward by Kumaravadivelu in 1994. It emerged to respond the demand for a most optimal way of teaching English free from the method-based restrictions.
