Dominus illuminatio mea (Latin for 'The Lord is my light') is the incipit (opening words) of Psalm 27 and is used by the University of Oxford as its motto. It has been in use there since at least the second half of the sixteenth century, and it appears in the coat of arms of the university .
Protecting the University logo. The Logo consists of the words UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD and a device, sometimes referred to as the 'Belted Crest' or 'Arms', inside a square or rectangle. The University has registered the Logo and the constituent parts of the Logo as trade marks.
The primary quadrangle logo consists of an Oxford blue (Pantone 282) square with the words UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD at the foot and the belted crest in the top right-hand corner reversed out in white. The word OXFORD is a specially drawn typeface while all other text elements use the typeface Foundry Sterling.
