17 de may. de 2024 · loopMIDI is a tiny app that lets you create and use virtual loopback MIDI ports. In fact, it makes use of the virtualMIDI driver to create the virtual ports, but in addition to the virtual driver, it also offers a handy and neat way to control and configure the ports.
LoopBe1 is an internal MIDI device for transferring MIDI data between computer programs. Basically LoopBe1 is an "invisible cable" to connect a MIDI outport of an application to any other application´s MIDI inport. All MIDI data sent to the program´s output is channeled to the receiving applications in realtime.
All of those other virtual MIDI miniport driver implementations actually developed simple static “loopback” MIDI-ports. Loopback meaning that both ends of this port would be public. Static meaning that the number of ports and their names would be fixed at install-time of the driver (via the inf-file of the driver).
I finally had time to add multi-client capabilities to my virtualMIDI-driver.As soon as I have finished updating the installers of rtpMIDI and loopMIDI, both of those will have this new capability and I will upload new versions here…. Multi-client means, that each created virtual MIDI-port can be opened by multiple applications at the same time (currently limited to 8 concurrent applications).
loopMIDI is required on Windows to create a virtual loopback MIDI port that Shove will send data to. Your DAW will be configured to listen on this virtual port so Shove can communicate with it.
