King George V School (KGV, pronounced "K-G-Five") is a coeducational international secondary independent school of the English Schools Foundation (ESF), located in Ho Man Tin, Hong Kong. The school has more than 1,900 students and is one of the oldest schools in Hong Kong.
Welcome to King George V (KGV) School. As Principal of KGV, I am delighted to be able to write a few lines to introduce you to the school. KGV is a dynamic and exciting place, where over 1850 students and 250 staff call home. KGV is also diverse, with over 35 different cultures and backgrounds represented in our learning community.
George V (George Frederick Ernest Albert; 3 June 1865 – 20 January 1936) was King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Emperor of India, from 6 May 1910 until his death in 1936.
King George V School is one of the oldest schools in Hong Kong. When the school first opened it was very different to the school students attend today. The first KGV School was built in a small building on Nathan Road in 1894. It was called Kowloon College.
