I record very cold signal in order to prevent any clipping from happening, and I use the 'normalize' function to audition the audio at a fair level.

  4. The issue is that whenever you increase the volume of recorded audio/samples, you're also increasing the noise floor of that sample, so any noise present is also boosted by the same amount. Your plug-ins might color the sound a little, maybe boosting mid frequencies more than high ones.

If you want actual normalization, where regions peak at 100% of the available amplitude, run the standard Normalize tool after using Normalize all regions.

Thanks for answering, I just tried Ctrl+L = Assign selected to free mixer track. That created 20 new tracks in the mixer, which is definitely not what I'm hoping to achieve.
