Charles Heath Wilson (1809–1882) was an Anglo-Scottish art teacher and author. Life. The eldest son of Andrew Wilson, the landscape-painter, he was born in London in September 1809. He studied art under his father, and in 1826 accompanied him to Italy. [1]
As an architect, he is known for a handful of works in Glasgow, including two monuments in the Necropolis, and for regularly being confused with his contemporary, the great Glasgow architect Charles Wilson, with whom he shared no other relationship than having the same name and through their professional associations.
Charles Heath Wilson was one of the most important individuals in Glasgow’s cultural history. In 2000, he was the subject of a major exhibition, ‘Charles Heath Wilson Missionary of Art’, which was held in the Mackintosh Building, at Glasgow School of Art.
