  1. 27 de mar. de 2008 · The verdict is the decision "guilty or not guilty" (in some courts, other verdicts are possible). The sentence is the punishment imposed as a result of a guilty verdict. A conviction exists when the verdict is "guilty" but not when the verdict is "not guilty." So, the jury might return a verdict of "guilty" when you are tried for murder.

  2. Feb 27, 2018. #3. I agree about the difference between "verdict" (guilty or innocent) and "sentence" (the punishment). "Ruling" and "judgement" refer to decisions made by a judge. "Verdict" usually means a decision made by a jury. Many court cases are lawsuits. Party A sues party B, asking a judge to decide something they disagree about.

  3. 23 de dic. de 2015 · Dec 23, 2015. #2. When U.S. juries deliberate, they leave the courtroom. In other words, they go "out" of the courtroom and into the room where they deliberate. They return to the courtroom when they reach a verdict (or decide that they cannot do so.) I cannot imagine a "verdict" walking out the door. Fixed expressions do get mangled, however.

  4. 25 de ene. de 2006 · Yeah, maybe you're right. I've definitely heard "the verdict is in" when the jury comes back in with it -- so I guess I just figured that "the verdict is still out" would mean that the jury is still out with the verdict. That's what I'd assume it meant if anyone ever said it to me, but I should have clarified that I hadn't ever heard it.

  5. 20 de jul. de 2008 · return a verdict: rendir/emitir un veredicto Such doubt must not influence you to return a verdict of not guilty if you have an abiding conviction of guilt. Tal duda no debe inducirlos a emitir un veredicto de no culpable si tienen una convicción perdurable de su culpabilidad. No sé si estás hablando con una o más personas.

I can’t find anything specific, but it seems to mean that the jury vote on the issue of guilt was a tie: six for guilty, six for not guilty. This apparently resulted in an acquittal under the law of that time and place.

  7. 21 de sept. de 2010 · Sep 21, 2010. #3. In this example, I would use the singular form because the individual members are not divided. Each member has one opinion or another. It is the singular entity "jury" that is divided. The jury was divided. If I'm thinking about the individul members I would probably use a plural verb. The jury were not able to agree a verdict.

Fallo: es la parte de una sentencia que contiene la decisión que se adopta, despues del análisis de los hechos y explicación juridica de derecho que se aplica. Veredicto es la decisión que adopta un jurado en los casos en que el juicio se desarrolle ante un tribunal con jurado (algunos asuntos criminales ...

  9. Rainy Oregon! USA. Aug 12, 2013. #2. chelseafan said: Hello, I'm having trouble with the words 'audiencia unica'. It means a Heraring that will happen only once and after which a verdict will be made. I have seen Single Hearing and my choice is Only Hearing, but neither feel right. Thanks in advance.

  10. La phrase "Le verdict est extrêmement dur" est du langage courant. Sadie a volée une voiture. Juste pour cela, elle a prit 2 ans de prison. C'est beaucoup trop strict comme punition. Elle méritait moins. Ce n'est pas juste. Elle est trop punie. Sa condamnation ne correspond pas au délit qu'elle a commis.
