Each of the three books has its own personality. The 2013 book’s goal is to summon The Abomination, as you said. He said that the book in Rise is the “bastard cousin” of the other two - it’s just trying to create as much chaos and suffering as it possibly can. In that way, it’s the meanest/most sadistic of the three.
I firmly place the original Evil Dead into the horror/comedy section. This version of Evil Dead had none of the humor or camp of the originals, it was straight up horror and i think they did a good job. Sams work felt original and shocking. Even his Spider-Man 2 holds up as one of the best super hero films.

I've loved Evil Dead since I was 7 years old, so I'm all about it. My psn is the same as my reddit name if you ever need another party member. Or a custom match demon. 👍
Evil Dead: The Game was enormously disappointing. Everything but the game mechanics themselves are top notch, but the Battle Royale and Asymmetrical PvP elements didn't work and cheapened it all. From Day One it was built for grinding that it couldn't sustain. The game would have been better off as a simple hack-and-slasher in comparison.
