Shonen Knife is a Japanese pop-punk band formed in Osaka in 1981. [3] Influenced by 1960s girl groups, pop bands, the Beach Boys, and early punk rock bands such as the Ramones, the band crafts stripped-down songs with simple yet unconventional lyrics sung both in Japanese and English. [4] [5]
4 de jun. de 2019 · Atsuko Yamano and Risa Kawano (Nakatani left the band in 1999) do a damn fine job on drums and bass respectively, and with the addition Naoko’s singsongy youthful vocals and crispy, sparky electric guitars the band certainly does NOT sound like a trio of middle-aged women.
21 de feb. de 2023 · They were joined by drummer Risa Kawano in 2015. The striking anomaly, listening to the latest from these now veteran rockers, is that Rock Animals, released on Virgin Records in ’93, sounds like a stronger, more mature record than the new songs recorded 30 years later.
