Even the best moments — “ (I Want to Build A) Jumbo Ark,” “What’s Shakin’ on the Hill,” “I Don’t Know Why You Keep Me On” — are undercut by stiff, colorless performances. For an artist who is defined by his relaxed charm, the stilted Party of One comes as an unwelcome surprise.

14 de jul. de 2017 · They rip through a fantastic batch of original songs highlighted by “All Men Are Liars” and “What’s Shakin’ on the Hill” which are still staples of Nick’s live show. This strong effort led into the Little Village project and can be considered the final chapter in the first half of Nick’s career.
Party of One is a classic Nick Lowe album that has been out of print for a number of years. The fine folks at Yep Roc are correcting that situation and have reissued the album (along with five other Nick Lowe titles that have suffered the same fate).
