Richard Albert Vermeil (/ vərˈmiːl /; born October 30, 1936) is an American former football coach who served as a head coach in the National Football League (NFL) for 15 seasons. He was the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles for seven seasons, the St. Louis Rams for three, and the Kansas City Chiefs for five.
Dick Vermeil was head coach of three National Football League franchises over 15 seasons. He mastered the three-year turnaround, leading the Philadelphia Eagles, St. Louis Rams and Kansas City Chiefs to the postseason after years – nearly two decades for the Eagles – on the outside looking in.

The one sure thing about Dick Vermeil’s enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday seemed to be that the Super Bowl-winning coach would shed a tear. Never happened. It was all smiles and thank-yous.
