27 de may. de 2024 · Walton reached a level very few have. And he only got to use his powers for a couple years or so. The entire NBA landscape would be drastically different had Bill stayed healthy. The Blazers might be one the top franchises. He could have owned the end of the '70s and early '80s, winning multiple titles. So, no, Bias is not the biggest what if.
Hall of Fame center Bill Walton has died of cancer. He was 71. RIP. Damn. I did not see this coming. He was an All-time great hooper and great fan of the Grateful Dead. He lived an incredible life on and off the court. Rest in peace dude. Thanks for your service the game both on the court and in broadcasting.
27 de may. de 2024 · Bill Walton had one of best college championship game performances against us (Memphis State/UofM) in 1973. In one of the great instances of sportsmanship, when Bill Walton was injured at the end of the game, Tigers star Larry Finch helped Walton off the floor.
22 de oct. de 2021 · He was an important piece to their championship team and he garnered the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year Award. The next year he got hurt again and he was through. The fact that he was named to the Top 75 despite playing in so few games is a testament to his greatness when he was on the floor. Here is a video on Walton.
10 de ago. de 2013 · He was the shit. At his peak he averaged 18.6/14.4/3.6 with 52% shooting and was the best player on a championship team. Portland's entire offense ran through him because he was such an exceptional passer for a center and he was a terrific defensive anchor. In terms of his style of play, he was a rich man's Marc Gasol.
The community for the 17-time NBA Champion Boston Celtics! The legendary Bill Walton has passed away after a bout with cancer. He was 71. One of the greatest. Cancer is horrible. Tough break for his family. He seemed like a really good dude. He was a big part of the greatest team of all time. The 86 Celtics team.
Saw the sad news that Bill Walton died of prostate cancer. A little concerned because apparently he caught it early stage 1 in 2016. Does anyone know anything about his prostate cancer journey? Prayers for his family. Read that he had passed on Sunday, from a long battle with cancer.
20 de jun. de 2022 · So Bill Walton won over all of them because 40% of voters thought the 58 games they saw him play was more valuable than any other player that season. And they kinda have a point. If Portland had lost every game they played without Walton that year, they still would have had the 2nd best record in the West. Walton did try to play in the post-season.
Bill Walton recounts the time he took the entire Celtics team to their first Dead show. He remembers Jerry Garcia glancing over at Larry Bird before the show began and saying, "Larry, this is what we do." Needless to say, they've all been Deadheads since.
Bill Walton was a unicorn. He could score in many different ways, a dozen post moves, a great face up shooter, the quickness to take most centers off the dribble if they were lured out to the high post. He filled the lane on the break and finished with authority.
