El filme es un derivado de la obra literaria Peter Pan y Wendy, escrita por J. M. Barrie y publicada en 1911, en la que un adulto Peter Pan se ve en la necesidad de volver al País de Nunca Jamás después de que el capitán Garfio secuestre a sus hijos.

In his new life, he was known as Peter Banning, a successful but unimaginative and workaholic lawyer with a wife (Wendy's granddaughter) and two children. However, when Captain Hook, the enemy of his past, kidnapped his children, he returned to Neverland to save them.
