Green had previously replaced guitarist Eric Clapton in the Bluesbreakers and had received critical acclaim for his work on their album A Hard Road.

He was one of my earliest bass playing inspirations, for what he did in the drummer-less John Mayall band in 1960/70, the band that made "Turning Point". Such beautifully percussive playing.
