Hummingbirds are the smallest mature birds, measuring 7.5–13 cm (3–5 in) in length. The smallest is the 5 cm (2.0 in) bee hummingbird, which weighs less than 2.0 g (0.07 oz), and the largest is the 23 cm (9 in) giant hummingbird, weighing 18–24 grams (0.63–0.85 oz).

On average, they’re between three and six inches long. However, the smallest hummingbird is only a little over two inches long. Even at their largest, a hummingbird will only reach about eight and a half inches in length. A nestling hummingbird weighs less than a single dime.
A hummingbird can flap its wings up to 80 times a second, or as many as 200 times in a dive. Hummingbirds have unique, impressive flight abilities, such as being able to fly backwards and upside down.
