Donald Smith Airey, más conocido como Don Airey (Sunderland, 21 de junio de 1948) es un teclista inglés y un nombre importante en la escena del Heavy metal y hard rock británicos desde los años setenta.
Con el agregado de Don Airey en los teclados, todos ellos grabarían Whitesnake (conocido en Europa como 1987), el álbum más conocido y vendido de su historia, editado en 1987.
Airey joined Jethro Tull in 1987 for their tour in support of Crest of a Knave. The same year also saw the release of Whitesnake's multi-platinum Whitesnake, on which Airey played keyboards. Soon after he quit the band to record the solo album K2 – Tales of Triumph and Tragedy.
Whitesnake are an English hard rock band formed in London in 1978. The group was originally put together as the backing band for singer David Coverdale, who had recently left Deep Purple. Though the band quickly developed into their own entity, Coverdale is the only constant member throughout their history.
Don Airey played keyboards on the album, but when the band toured in 1990 Rick Seratte occupied the off-stage keyboard role. Shortly after a headlining appearance at the Donnington 'Monsters Of Rock' festival in August, which did the band’s reputation no favours, Coverdale decided to put Whitesnake on an indefinite hiatus.
