Historia. El germen de Vanilla Fudge surge en el seno de una banda llamada Electric Pigeons, formada en Long Island, Nueva York en 1965; el organista Mark Stein, el bajista Tim Bogert y el baterista Joey Brennan acortaron su nombre al de Pigeons y captaron al guitarrista Vince Martell.
Vince Martell was a US Navy veteran and a founding member of Vanilla Fudge, one of the first American groups to create psychedelic symphonic rock. He played guitar and sang on their hits like \"You Keep Me Hangin' On\" and \"The Beat Goes On\", and later joined Cream as a fill-in for Eric Clapton.

Tim Bogert, Mark Stein and Vince Martell were in a band called The Pigeons playing the same circuit as The Hassles (which included a youthful Billy Joel) and The Vagrants (with Leslie West, later of Mountain).
