John Lee Hooker (Clarksdale, Misisipi; 22 de agosto de 1912 [1] -Los Altos, California; 21 de junio de 2001) fue un cantante y guitarrista de blues estadounidense. Hijo de un aparcero, saltó a la fama interpretando una adaptación al estilo de la guitarra eléctrica del Delta blues que desarrolló en Detroit.
John Lee Hooker (August 22, 1912 or 1917 – June 21, 2001) was an American blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist. The son of a sharecropper, he rose to prominence performing an electric guitar-style adaptation of Delta blues that he developed in Detroit.

Of all the postwar blues giants, John Lee Hooker was the rock star. The bluesman’s rebel streak was already in evidence when – aged just 14 – he ran away from the Mississippi farm of his childhood and a minister father who “thought the guitar was the Devil’s work”.
