Accordingly, Sahm assembled his friends Augie Meyers (keyboards), Frank Morin (saxophone), Harvey Kagen (bass), and Johnny Perez (drums). Meaux gave them an English-sounding name, the Sir Douglas Quintet, and subsequently scored an international hit in 1965 with the catchy "Shes About a Mover."

Harvey Kagan (* - Died: 5 July 2019) began playing music at the age 13 with Sammy Vaughn and the Star Marks, playing record hops throughout South Texas. When Sammy left for Dallas, Harvey joined who was, at that time, a local artist, with charted records, in the area.
