  1. 24 de feb. de 2016 · BRYCE PORTIUS. Vocalist in the original Savoy Brown Blues Band, Portius was born and raised in Trinidad. He sang on the band’s 1967 Mike Vernon-produced debut album Shake Down - he looks like the epitome of 60s cool on the cover - yet left the band not long after and subsequently vanished from music history.

  2. Bryce Portius: was the first vocalist of Savoy Brown Blues Band. Featured on two singles on PURDAH and first "Shake Down" album on DECCA (1967) only. Was replaced for second album ("Getting To The Point" in 1968) by Chris Youlden. Everybody seems to consider this a great improvement, but I must admit a certain fondness for the elusive Mr. Portius.

  5. 15 de nov. de 2017 · The original line-up included singer Bryce Portius, keyboardist Trevor Jeavons, bassist Ray Chappell, drummer Leo Manning and harmonica player John O'Leary (O'Leary appeared on record with the band on its initial recordings for Mike Vernon's Purdah label). Portius was one of the first black blues musicians to be a part of a British rock band.

  6. 27 de abr. de 2023 · As a teenager, Simmonds (guitar) honed the skills of fellow musicians Martin Stone (guitar), Ray Chappell (bass), Bob Hall (keyboards), Bryce Portius (vocals), and Leo Mannings (drums) and together, as Savoy Brown, they helped lead the British-blues circuit alongside contemporaries Chicken Shack and Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac.
