Barber–Scotia College is a private unaccredited historically black college in Concord, North Carolina. It began as a seminary in 1867 before becoming a college in 1916. It is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA).
The present name, Barber-Scotia College was adopted in 1932. Four years after the merger of Barber with Scotia, the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools granted Barber-Scotia approval as a Class ‘A’ Junior College.

Barber-Scotia College was founded in Concord in 1867 as Scotia Seminary, a Presbyterian preparatory school for young, newly freed African American women. For more than a generation the institute prepared these women to become teachers, social workers, and members of other professions.
