Biography. Performances. Born on August 10th 1865, Alexander Glazunov was a Russian composer of the late Romantic period, conductor and music teacher. It was clear from an early age that Glazunov had substantial musical potential due to his exceptional ear and impressive musical memory.
Glazunov made his conducting debut in 1888, becoming principal conductor of the Russian Symphonic Concerts in Saint Petersburg, organised by Mitrofan Belyayev. In 1896, he conducted the premiere of Tchaikovsky's student overture The Storm, which had never been performed during its author's lifetime.
