The blue Sonic shown on screen has blue arms, which means that his hands are blue too. It stands to reason, then, that the current modern version of Sonic, who controversially has tan arms, would have tan hands as well.
Probably because Sonic's had the tan arms in most media since 1991 in almost all of his designs, so it looks weird when someone changes it. It really depends on the design though, I actually think Boom Sonic and Movie Sonic look better with the blue arms than without, but if you try to put them on the normal Classic or Modern designs ...

It's not noticeable enough on a CRT, so they used the same arms as Sonic for him. When it came time to do Knuckles, they screwed up, as he used the same arms as Sonic too and that was way more noticeable, as flesh color is relatively simlar to Tails, but not even close to Knuckles.

Speaking of arms, I gotta say that I prefer the blue, fuzzy arms of movie Sonic over the flesh-colored, noodle arms of his game counterpart. I know the flesh tone was done so that you can see his arms better when he runs in 2D, but the furry, blue fits more naturally for a live-action movie.
