Synopsis. Chance (Peter Sellers) is a middle-aged gardener who lives in the townhouse of a wealthy man in Washington D.C. Chance seems very simple-minded and has lived in the house his entire life, tending the garden, with virtually no contact with the outside world.

Sinopsis. Chance es un hombre peculiar. Su vida se reduce a cuidar el jardín de la mansión de un hombre adinerado y a ver la televisión el resto del día. Pero, cuando el dueño de la casa muere y Chance es despedido, no está preparado para hacer frente al mundo exterior.
Plot. Middle-aged, simple-minded Chance lives in a wealthy old man's townhouse in Washington, D.C., along with the man's African-American maid Louise, who is kind to Chance. He has spent his whole life tending the garden and never left the property. Other than gardening, his knowledge is derived entirely from television.
Being There is a satirical novel by the Polish-born writer Jerzy Kosinski, published April 21, 1971. Set in America, the story concerns Chance, a simple gardener who unwittingly becomes a much sought-after political pundit and commentator on the vagaries of the modern world.
