The Keys to Soil Taxonomy provides the taxonomic keys necessary for the classification of soils in a form that can be used easily in the field. It also acquaints users of soil taxonomy with recent changes in the classification system.

The World Reference Base (WRB) is an international system for classification of soils. It was designed to cater for any soil in the world. WRB is based on the Legend (FAO-Unesco, 1974) and the Revised Legend (FAO, 1988) of the Soil Map of the World (FAO-Unesco, 1971-1981).

Los autores de las Claves para la Taxonomía de Suelos son identificados como el “Soil Survey Staff”. Este término se entiende que incluye todos los clasificadores desuelos en el Programa Soil Survey National Cooperative y a la comunidad internacional que han hecho contribuciones significativas a la mejora del sistema taxonómico.

On 1 August 2022, at the World Congress of Soil Science in Glasgow, the fourth edition was published (IUSS Working Group WRB, 2022 ).
