For example, at UMass Amherst last year the middle 50% testing range on the SAT for enrolling first-year students was 1330-1490. This means that of the 29,000 admitted first-year students, about 14,500 (the half in the middle) had a score that was in the range.
Admission to the first-year class is selective and is contingent upon successful completion of required high school courses at a level consistent with the university’s admissions standards.
If you are entering UMass Amherst with an exemplary academic school record, then you may be considered for admission to the Commonwealth Honors College. There is no separate application process; students are notified of their selection with their general letter of admission.
