Sunken Condos is the fourth and most recent solo album from Steely Dan co-founder Donald Fagen, released in October 2012 through Reprise Records. [1] . It contains eight new songs and a cover of Isaac Hayes ' "Out of the Ghetto". [2] .

6 de mar. de 2013 · The horn charts are sometimes quite ambitious, and the guitar solos by Jon Herington and Kurt Rosenwinkel combine studio expertise with that something extra that helped Steely Dan avoid the standard L.A. sound. Fagen and Leonhart coax nice riffs out of pianos, clavinets, organs, and synthesizers.

Donald Fagen isn’t exactly a jazz musician, but he is a musician who plays jazz and whose music is suffused with a jazz sensibility, whether on his own or as co-leader of Steely Dan, so here we go. His 4th solo disc, Sunken Condos (on Reprise), is one of his best and maybe the best-sounding since the Dan heyday.
1 de nov. de 2012 · The guy's 65, innovation has never been what he and Walter Becker have been about (at least not since the high mark of Steely Dan, which was one of the most innovative pop bands ever), but—more to the point— Sunken Condos does pave new layers and textures over that ground, and they're subtle and appealing.
