So how to sum up a band who got so close to, yet remained so far from, the highest musical echelon in those hazy days of sex, drugs and rock’n’roll? For Peter Frampton, Humble Pie were simply “the best band I was ever in!”.
Peter Frampton said he was left with “less than nothing” by the manager who lied to make him sign up for ill-fated ’Sgt. Pepper’s’ movie in October 2020.
Frampton tells The Guardian that when he finally prevailed against his addiction, the fog of the last decade cleared and he realized the ugly truth: he had been ripped off. The manager, Dee Anthony, who died in 2009, for years told people not to bother Frampton with financial matters.
The amount of cocaine found in the bag Frampton was carrying was 1,980 grams. When asked why he’d been making this calculation, Frampton said: “My mind works in a strange way.”
It was featured on the cover of Frampton Comes Alive and was thought to have been destroyed in 1980 when a plane carrying Frampton's stage equipment crashed in Venezuela during a South American tour, killing the crew, but with the guitar in fact surviving the accident with some minor damage.
