Spencer supposedly left the hotel he and the group were staying at to get some groceries, but he never returned, according to Rolling Stone .
Spencer was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 for his past work as a member of Fleetwood Mac. During the 2000s there were rumours of a reunion of the early line-up of Fleetwood Mac involving Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer.

Jeremy Spencer (born 4 July 1948, in Hartlepool, County Durham), is a British musician, best known as one of Fleetwood Mac's first guitarists, joining the band in July 1967. His speciality was the slide guitar, and he was strongly influenced by blues musician Elmore James.

27 de nov. de 1999 · Jeremy recorded a solo album, simply titled, Jeremy Spencer, released in 1970. Besides one serious blues number, he light-heartedly covered rockabilly, surf, and 50’s ballads. Becoming disheartened with his lack of inspiration, Jeremy left Fleetwood Mac in 1971 to pursue a spiritual path as a Christian.
