Ian Hacking (born February 18, 1936, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada—died May 10, 2023, Toronto, Ontario) was a Canadian philosopher whose historical analyses of the natural and social sciences as well as mathematics greatly influenced 20th- and 21st-century philosophical discourse.
En los últimos años Ian Hacking se ha dedicado a trabajar principalmente acerca de las ciencias humanas. El objetivo de este artículo es presentar algunas de las nociones acuñadas por el filósofo canadiense -fundamentalmente las de ontología histórica y nominalismo dinámico- para dicho ámbito.
En este artículo pretendemos trabajar acerca del realismo científico defendido por Ian Hacking, recorriendo el camino desde Representar e intervenir (1983), hasta Rewriting the Soul (1995), Mad Travelers (1998), ¿La construcción social de qué? (2001) e Historical Ontology (2002).
