Maha Singh (Punjabi: Mahaṅ Singh; 1760 – 15 April 1790 or 1756 – April 1792), also spelt as Mahan or Mahn Singh, was the second chief of the Sukerchakia Misl, which as a Sikh grouping with its guerilla militia was one of twelve Sikh Misls that later became part of the Sikh Empire.
Maha Singh or Mahan Singh was Maharaja Ranjit Singh's father and the commander of the Sukerchakia misl and controlled a territory in west Punjab based around his headquarters at Gujranwala. He was a Punjabi Sikh chief of an organisation (misl) which formed part of the Sikh Confederacy.
Ranjit Singh (13 November 1780 – 27 June 1839), [4] popularly known as Sher-e-Punjab or "Lion of Punjab", was the first Maharaja of the Sikh Empire, which ruled the northwest Indian subcontinent in the early half of the 19th century. He survived smallpox in infancy but lost sight in his left eye.
Sardar Charat Singh (1721–1770 or 1733–1774), also romanised as Charhat Singh, was the founder of Sukerchakia Misl, father of Mahan Singh, and the grandfather of Ranjit Singh, the first Maharaja of the Sikh Empire.

He is known for his alliance with Jassa Singh Ramgarhia and for reducing the power of the Kanheya Misl. As the new leader of the Sukerchakia Misl he captured the Rohtas Fort from Nur ud-Din Bamezai, a general of Ahmad Shah Durrani.
