Théophile Mwené Ndzalé Obenga (Mbaya, Gamboma, Plateaux; 2 de febrero de 1936) es un historiador, lingüista y diplomático congoleño, que se desempeñó como ministro de Relaciones Exteriores y ministro de Cultura de la República del Congo.
Théophile Obenga (born 1936 in the Republic of the Congo) is professor emeritus in the Africana Studies Center at San Francisco State University. He is a politically active proponent of Pan-Africanism. Obenga is an Egyptologist, linguist, and historian.
Théophile Obenga est l'auteur d'une théorie de linguistique historique qu'il a baptisée « négro-égyptien ». Celle-ci identifierait des propriétés communes aux langues « négro-africaines », établissant une parenté génétique entre lesdites langues ; y compris l' égyptien ancien et le copte.
Theophile. J. Obenga nació en la República Democrática del Congo y es profesor emérito en el Centro de Estudios Africanos en la Universidad de San Francisco. Obenga ha realizado varios estudios en diversos temas como Filosofía, Educación, Historia y Lingüística.
Théophile Obenga holds the Ph.D. in Letters, Arts and Humanities from Montpellier University, France. He is a member of the French Association of Egyptologists (Société Française D’Egyptologie) and of the African Society of Culture (Présence Africaine).
Déjà formé à la philosophie, maîtrisant le grec ancien et le latin, Théophile Obenga s’oriente vers l’égyptologie et la linguistique. En 1973, il publie aux Éditions Présence Africaine son premier ouvrage, L’Afrique dans l’Antiquité – Égypte ancienne – Afrique noire, préfacé par Cheikh Anta Diop.
