Teraura, also Susan or Susannah Young (c. 1775 – July 1850), was a Tahitian woman who settled on Pitcairn Island with the Bounty Mutineers. She took part in Ned Young 's plot to murder male Polynesians who had travelled on HMS Bounty and killed Tetahiti.
TERAURA (Taoupiti, Mataohu, “Susannah”) We do not know whether Teraura was one of the Tahitian women who were kidnapped by Christian and his companions when the Bounty sailed from Tahiti for the last time. She arrived at Pitcairn as the consort of Edward Young.
In 1791, Mauatua and another of the Bounty women, Teraura, arrived at Pitcairn Island as the oldest and youngest of the women, and they eventually outlived all the original settlers. Teraura had made a life with Mauatua’s eldest son.
