Kenneth Christian Skates (born 2 April 1976) is a Welsh Labour politician who has served as Cabinet Secretary for North Wales and Transport since 2024. Skates has represented the constituency of Clwyd South in the Senedd since the election of 2011.
Ken Skates MS is a Welsh Labour member of the Senedd for Clwyd South and the Cabinet Secretary for North Wales and Transport. He has a background in journalism and politics, and his interests include skills training, tourism, environmental protection and social inclusion.
Ken Skates MS is the Welsh Government minister responsible for transport, roads, buses, rail, active travel, road safety and Armed Forces in Wales. He was born in Wrexham, studied at Cambridge University and was a journalist and a community councillor before entering politics.
