Sir George Hubert Wilkins MC & Bar (31 October 1888 – 30 November 1958), commonly referred to as Captain Wilkins, was an Australian polar explorer, ornithologist, pilot, soldier, geographer and photographer.

Hubert Wilkins was a noted Australian explorer, geographer, and aviator who pioneered flight at both Poles. He participated in several Antarctic expeditions, including the first aerial exploration of Antarctica, and reasserted Australian sovereignty over claimed land.

In a life filled with extraordinary adventures, George ‘Hubert’ Wilkins is particularly noted for ‘firsts’, including flights across the Arctic and in Antarctica, and taking a submarine beneath the frozen Arctic Ocean. He was also a war correspondent, cinematographer, naturalist, geographer and pioneering climatologist.
