Johnny Terry. American singer, songwriter, producer, and label owner. Died 2005. Terry co-wrote songs for James Brown, such as ' Please, Please, Please ' and 'You've Got The Power'. In 1963 he joined the Drifters as a bass singer, but left the group in 1965 to concentrate on his own productions.
The Famous Flames were posthumously inducted into The National Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame in two separate inductions: James Brown in 2013, and the remaining Flames, Byrd, Bennett, Stallworth, and Johnny Terry, in 2020.
Johnny Stewart joined the group in 1963 and left in 1993 in Las Vegas. He joined The Platters and continued his singing career. This lineup lasted until 1996, when Cofie was out and Jason Leigh was in. Leigh was replaced after two years by the returning Lamarr.
