Flash Light is Tom Verlaine 's fifth solo album. After a three-year hiatus, during which Verlaine lived in both New York and Europe, he released the album with a large amount of promotion and touring in the UK. It was recorded by Mario Salvati at Sorcerer 2, New York City except "The Scientist Writes a Letter", engineered by Mark Wallis.

Fred Smith: Bass. Allan Schwartzberg: Drums. Andy Newmark: Drums. Three years had passed since the release of "Cover", during which Verlaine lived in England, Portugal and France as well as the U.S., and some of the songs on "Flashlight were written here. In fact, when the album was first released it was only available in the U.S. on import.

Biography. Andrew Newmark was born on July 14, 1950, in Port Chester, New York, and raised primarily in the nearby suburb of Mamaroneck. His mother was Bermudian and his father, Charles W. Newmark, was an Assistant District Attorney from 1938 to 1940 in New York City under District Attorney Thomas E. Dewey. His Father was Russian-Jewish.
